ENG AH KOON
Past International Director (PID)
Eng Ah Koon, of the Republic of Singapore, was elected to serve a two-year term
as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s
61st annual convention, held in Tokyo, Japan, June 21 – 24, 1978.
Past Director Eng is Managing Director of Bintang (Pte) Limited. He has also
been a stockbroker and supervisor of labor for the British Military Administration
and recipient of the 1939-45 British War Medal.
As a Lion, Past Director Eng has served as a 100% District Governor and as
member of the District Governor’s Cabinet as District Honorary Chairman. He
has received three Extension Awards, a Master Key, an Old Monarch Award for
15 years charter membership and five International President’s Awards.
Past Director Koon is a life member of the Singapore Red Cross Society, the St.
John Ambulance Association, the Singapore Cancer Society and vice president of
the Singapore Jaycees. He was also council member of the Singapore Anti-
Tuberculosis Association, a member of the Advisory Board of the Singapore
Social Welfare Department Boys Hostel and had served for eight years as a
member of the panel of advisors to the Magistrate Juvenile Court of Singapore.
Past Director Koon and his wife, Lois, have one son.
DATO' DOUGLAS KK LEE
Past International Director (PID)
Douglas K.K. Lee, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was elected to serve a
two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs
at the association's 73rd International Convention, held in St. Louis,
Missouri, USA, July 11-14, 1990.
Past Director Lee is a retired banker after 27 years in the industry, and is still active in many public and professional organizations.
Past Director Lee, a life member, has been a Lion since 1960. He served as
president of the Kuala Lumpur (Host) Lions Club twice and as district
governor and council chairman of Multiple District 308 (Malaysia,
Singapore and Brunei). He has also served as a member of his multiple
district cabinet as an advisor for many years.
Past Director Lee has received much recognition for his work on behalf of
Lions Clubs International, including seven International President's Awards,
the Master Key Award, six Extension Awards and the Ambassador of Good
Will Award, the highest honor granted by the association to its members.
He and his wife, Ruby, have three children and four grandchildren.
Late PETER Y S FU Past International Director (PID)
Peter Y. S. Fu, of Southpoint, Singapore, was elected to serve a two-year term as a
director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association's 80th
International Convention, held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA,
June 30-July 5, 1997.
Past Director Fu is the owner of diversified business companies.
A Life Member of the Singapore (East) Lions Club since 1960, Past Director Fu
has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone
chairman, district governor and council chairman. In addition, he has served as a
trustee of the Lions Home for the Elders since 1980, and has been the chairman of
two Orient and Southeast Asia (OSEAL) Forums. Past Director Fu also initiates
and sponsors the annual Lion Peter Fu Charity Golf Tournament.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards,
including the 100% District Governor Award, five International President’s
Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor bestowed
upon a member by the association. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow and was
named as his district’s Lion of the Year in 1986.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past Director Fu is active in numerous
professional and community organizations.
Past Director Fu and his wife, Mary, have four children and six grandchildren.
HJH. ELLIS SURIYATI HJ. OMAR Past International Director (PID)
Ellis Suriyati Omar, from Kuching, Malaysia, was elected to serve a two-year term as
a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 91st
International Convention, held in Bangkok, Thailand, June 23-27, 2008.
Director Omar is a company director.
A member of the Kuching City Lions Club and a Lion since 1979, Director Omar has
held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson,
region chairperson, district governor and council chairperson. He has also served as a
national coordinator for Campaign SightFirst II.
In recognition of his service to the association, Director Omar has received numerous
awards, including the 100% Club President award, the District Governor Certificate of
Appreciation, the International President’s Leadership Torch Extension Award and
three International President’s medals. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Omar has been active in numerous
professional and community organizations. He is the chairperson of the Lions Nursing
Home in Kuching, president of the Sarawak Netball Association and the recipient of
the Sarawak Sate Award.
Director Omar and his wife, Zaidi, have three children.
