Message from Council Chairperson

Dear Fellow Lions
My most sincere thanks to all members, the District Governors and the many Past International Officers for their confidence in me and supported my successful election to be the Council Chairperson for Fiscal Year 2007/2008. It is a privilege and honour in having the opportunity to serve as the Council Chairperson of MD308.
Multiple District 308 is a very unique entity with clubs coming from three sovereign nations. This composition also provides members with many opportunities and one of the most conducive environments in creating synergy to serve as one big borderless organization. MD308 covers areas with very diverse living and physical environment. Invariably, the social needs and demands of the respective local communities and members will be very much different. It therefore is not feasible to have a one-size-fits-all solution to meet the MD’s diverse needs.
The four District Governors are fully aware of their respective local conditions. Their respective plans and policies of the Fiscal Year must have been formulated, undoubtedly with the assistance of their capable respective Cabinets, to meet and address the local needs and demands. Most importantly these plans and policies also serve to enhance continuing growth. In recognition of the varying conditions, the Council of Governors has unanimously agreed to adopt a simple and realistic theme for the year, that is “PROGRESS – TOGETHER” Invariably, any growth, regardless of its quantifiable measurement, will be significant and contribute to the overall growth of the Multiple District.
International President Mahendra Amarasuriya, in his acceptance address at the last International Convention in Chicago, has urged Lions to adapt to the rapid changes that are taking place worldwide. MD308 is in one of the fastest changing regions of the world. We will be in the forefront in meeting changing environmental and living needs and demands. The manner with which MD308 Lions are able to successfully respond to these changes would be an invaluable testimony to the relevance of the Lions’ services and a reaffirmation of our commitments to serve the communities.
Finally, may I also take this opportunity to say that it is an honour and privilege that MD308 will be presenting PCC Hjh Ellis Suriyati Hj Omar, as its International Director candidate in the coming OSEAL Forum to be held in Daegu, Korea, from October 13, 2007 to October 15, 2007. I look forward to seeing a strong presence of MD308 Lions at the Forum to cheer on and lend support to our ID candidate.
Best regards
LIM Hon Chee |
